"I bet you will," Kirley said, then gave Remus an assessing glance over. "You're awfully interested in my daughter's happiness and what she will or will not appreciate. Should I be concerned? Break out my stern Dad voice?" He paused for a moment, let the idea settle a bit, then made a face.
"Because between you and me, I'm not sure I have one. At least, not to be applied to this context." He was very willing to break out the stern voice in other, more pleasurable contexts. "But since it matters so much to you, and more importantly to Savannah, I'll go see what the elves can do about a celebration."
