"That's not a joke then," Ron pointed out, because what was a joke if it wasn't to entertain other people? "Good. I'm glad you have some sense." Though thinking on it, Nott had been a Slytherin and they were generally self-serving in the sense they wouldn't rush head long into a forest filled with creatures that wanted to eat them. Unless, of course, they were trying to lure in the---nope, he needed to stop that way of thinking. This was a new world, after all. "It's my job to squire you, whatever the bloody Hell that is, or finds someone to do it because no one goes anywhere alone."
Ron studied him for another minute, then shrugged. "Yeah. I needed air. Jumped to conclusions when I saw someone out there. You could have been a new arrival too, so I had to check it out either way." There were a number of people he could think of who would take their chances in the forest rather than the castle, at least until they got the lay of the land, so to speak.
"If that's your way of asking for company, Nott, you've got a lot to work on in the way of charm," Ron said, but he hopped off his broom anyway. Might as well try to get to know the guy a little. He considered the broom for a moment, then tucked it under his arm in case he needed to make a quick getaway. "Since you're not heading into the forest, where exactly where you walking?"
