"It didn't seem like a long time," Ron said, mostly because it had felt like they'd never had time to breathe even after Voldemort was dead. "Kind of a mind fuck though, thinking that 2003--or 1995 for you--was both a week ago and thirty-odd years ago. Still doesn't seem possible."
Ron laughed, though it wasn't a fully amused one. "That's what I keep telling myself. Sleep is for the weak." They were quiet for a few yards, which only served to emphasize the emptiness of Hogwarts. Ron didn't think he'd ever get used to how silent it was. No wonder the castle had taken action. He'd be lonely too after eight years without anyone around.
"Yeah, I think so, and the school brooms were never very good anyway. We'll have to organize a scavenging party to one of the Quidditch pitches. See if anything's still there." It would also give Harry something to do. He knew Harry was only going to last so long doing nothing.
He followed Tonks into the shed, unsurprised that it was rather dusty and cobwebby. He did his best to ignore that--he'd mostly gotten over his spider phobia, as long as they weren't Acromantula-sized. There were a few brooms leaning against the wall, and a few even looked like they were still usable.
"Well, let's try them and see how they do," Ron said, and picked up a few of the ones in better condition. "Looks like Shooting Star was still around." He held out one of the brooms. It had Pegasus engraved on the side, with the shooting star logo and the year 2009. "Let's see if it's held up better than the old school models did."
