And there it was. The one thing that would always come ahead of their family, that always mattered more than anything else to Harry Potter: sacrificing everything for the rest of the world. Jamie knew there was no way he would ever compete with that. When it came down to it, Harry Potter would always choose the world over anyone. If he was really involved with Draco Malfoy, Jamie hoped Malfoy knew what he was getting into, how he would never come first. So, he put it away. He couldn't have the same argument with Harry that he'd always lost with his father. Maybe if Harry was serious about wanting to know him this time, maybe they'd come to a place when it could be discussed without the dismissals.
"She's good," he said, resolving to end the personal topics of discussion. "At least in my time. But, that will work." They wouldn't have to go to the press. The press would come to them. But, if that was how Harry wanted it, Jamie could play the 'no comment' game well enough, too.
His body had gone ridged at the mention of another job, the expectation being that Harry was going to say I need you on MLE. But, what actually came was...well, surprising, honestly. Jamie wasn't sure Dad would have trusted him with something like that, too used to doing it on his own with Uncle Ron and Aunt Hermione, too convinced none of his children were going to live up to his expectations. It took Jamie a moment to reply through his surprise. But, finally he nodded. "I can do that. I'll need to borrow that letter back for a few days, though. I wasn't looking to investigate it when you showed it to us the first night." Smiling, he couldn't help but shake his head. "I know you don't understand, but I don't mind the press." He didn't think he was going to change his mind, but he hoped Harry would come to realize he couldn't win if he shut out the press forever. "Still, I guess we can see."
