Remus laughed softly. "Make it boring for him and he'll stop," he suggested with another little half shrug. "Your brother likes to get a rise out of people, get a reaction. Stop reacting and he'll get bored of it soon enough, maybe start calling you 'Regulus' just to see your surprise. And far less likely to escalate the way a hexing war between the two of you would likely do."
He laughed at the rejoiner. "Touche! I do believe I deserve that." Possibly deserved more for some of the pranks they had pulled as students, too full of their own self importance and, unfortunately, cruel in the way only young boys can be. Walking in silence for a moment, Remus turned everything over in his head. He may not have the reputation for brilliance his friends had, but mostly that was because he spent so much time thinking before acting, or speaking. There were too many variables to think they could suss it out all in one or two gos. So, it was nice to be able to bounce ideas off different people, like Tonks and Regulus. "Of course, if we did all manage to survive, we'd still be well within our prime and likely all alive to deal with whatever unholy mix of muggle science and magic caused the extinction of wizard-kind. Unless we also figure out how to stop that from happening, as well."
It was Remus' turn to frown, then he shook his head. "No, I don't think the Muggles would have gotten very close. Between the school, Hogsmeade, and the forest, there's enough magic shielding this whole area from muggles that I imagine it would be another few decades before it started fading enough to be noticed by muggles. I suppose, the real thing to do is talk to the others, make sure they'll stay in the castle, no matter what." Remus would talk to Sirius about keeping Moony out of the Forest. Padfoot wasn't his secret to reveal...if it was even still a secret, either. "We'll have to recon the forest sooner or later, though, if only to know what the dangers are if we're to stay at the castle for long. Some of those creatures may periodically come out onto the grounds now that there's no fear of people."
