"I'll bet it would have been." Remus could just imagine how this conversation would go if Snape were there. And Remus honestly couldn't blame him, either. Whether it was Remus' fault or not, Remus had been the instrument by which he'd nearly been killed. Stowing the knife, he fell into step with the younger man, but nearly stumbled at the following revelations.
So much for 'animal's grace'.
"Everybody knows?" In other circumstances he might have prevaricated. But, Regulus wasn't a stupid man. Remus knew that much. He'd never say something that could be so easily verified with a quick run to the library if he was merely fishing for information. "Fuck," he breathed. Slowly, the rest of what Regulus said filtered into his brain. History books. Teaching. 'Other things'. "They all know," he repeated softly, letting the knowledge sink in. If Regulus was the only one who didn't know, then all the others knew and none of them had been anything but friendly strangers.
"I haven't gone to look, not for any of us, I mean. For what happened to the world, but I'm not sure I want to know what happened to any of us that survived the war." Getting his feet under him a little more, he shook his head. "And, for the record, I wouldn't mind taking a potion you brewed. Snape was a genius, but I remember your reputation for potions as well. If there's something that will make me safer to others, I'd be a fool not to take it. I was just generalizing with the 'someone' because most people don't offer to give that kind of help, in my experience."
