Jamie nearly snorted himself. Of course Al was 'fine'. Fine wasn't a good thing. Fine was a word you used when you wanted the world to stop asking and just believe the lie. And their father had been the one to teach them that definition by example. And anyone who knew his brother, which admittedly wasn't as many as thought they did, could tell he was teetering on the same edge Jamie was doing his best to ignore.
"Wouldn't be the first time someone's commented on our similarities," he commented drily. "But, thanks, I'm sure Grandpa James and I can come to some sort of equitable arrangement." Somehow, he didn't think he'd be able to think someone younger than his now-too-young father as 'grandpa'. But, he'd wait and see how things fell out with James Potter the eldest.
"Al, why don't we go find Scorpius?" Jamie knew his brother. While Jamie would do his best, no one could get through to him the way Scorpius Malfoy could. Those two understood each other on a level no one else could reach. It was the sort of friendship Jamie had never allowed himself to want. "Maybe we can talk in the morning?" He turned his attention to Harry. "I'll just grab a room near wherever Scorpius is staying for tonight." That would let Al stay near to his friend and appease Jamie's need to look out for his brother now that they were on their own. He'd think about what it meant that no one had mentioned their sister's presence...later. "We can figure out permanent arrangements tomorrow and I'll talk to Savannah."
