Jamie's arm around his shoulder has helped Al calm down slightly. He was now just pulling in little gasps of air as he tried to find his normal, who gives a shit calm. He didn't find it, but he did at least manage to get himself under control enough to take the letter. He also noticed Teddy, and the absolutely deflated look to his face. For the first time he wondered if this could really, actually be Teddy, and not some mind controlled version of him. Not even the best manipulator in the world would know that Teddy's hair went flat when he was upset. He shot his basically-brother a worried look, then began to read the letter. Holding it so James could read it as well.
It was all there. The whole batshit story, minus the time traveling castle part. It was undeniably from his father, as well. The handwriting, the tone, the content. No one could fake something like that. Not this well. Which meant that this man, this man was Harry Potter. This was his father, from the past. This whole thing was true. His father had just apologized to him for the first time in his entire life. For his bloody name. And they were almost exactly the same age.
