RP: James & Scorpius
Who: James Potter & Scorpius Malfoy
When: 11th March, evening
Where: Clocktower
What: After-dinner wanderings
It was times like this that the cloak was really handy. Pehaps he should ask Harry to borrow it one day, but right now James didn't really fancy a chat. He'd smiled and joked his way through dinner, then made his excuses and nipped away.
He wasn't going anywhere in particular, but his feet seemed to lead him along well trodden hallways and across moving staircases without him even thinking about it. After all, he had plenty of other things on his mind without having to worry about directions. But soon enough, he found himself at the bottom of the old clock tower. James had always liked it here, with the churning gears and peeling bells, and he didn't hesitate too long before starting up the stairs to the first landing.
It was noisy in the tower, which suited the bespectacled wizard just fine. It worked for him, creating a distraction. His brain had been working overtime since Peter's arrival, keeping him up at night as he trawled through his memories, looking for a clue, a hint, anything. Merlin, had he been that thick?
And then there was Lily. He missed her, so much that he often woke up feeling short of breath. James was all too aware that in another couple of weeks he would have outlived himself, so to speak. Which meant that Lily, back at home, the Lily he'd left sleeping in bed would be...
He didn't even want to think it. James was grateful when he reached the landing, with its giant cogs and gears crunching the air.
