"No," James replied. "You seem alright. Not like any Malfoys I know but that's not a bad thing." He stopped short of calling Scorpius' grandfather one of the choice names he usually reserved for that crowd, but it balanced in the air between them. "I just don't know the last tome a Potter got sorted into Slytherin."
He nodded, looking away briefly so Scorpius wouldn't catch his expression. But then, of course, he said something else. It took a second to register, and then...
"What?" James snapped back to look at him. "Your Dad's dating Harry?" Had he missed something? James was sure he'd missed something. He had it in his head that Harry ended up with the Weasley girl. It had made him laugh because of course his son would marry a redhead.
"Guess not," he replied, still half reeling from the previous revelation. "No offense, but if I were you I wouldn't worry too hard about getting his approval."
