Entry tags:character: harry potter, unused: glenda chittock

RP: Glenda's arrival
Who: Glenda Chittock & Harry Potter
When: 10pm, March 9th
Where: The Grand Staircase
What: Glenda had been expecting another dull club gig. Instead, she got time travel.

Glenda could not count how many times a week she was invited to some new band's initial gig at some hole-in-the-wall club. Wizarding clubs were usually interesting in their secrecy but lately, it was wearing on her. There was nothing standing out. Besides, she had more important things to be working on - the music festival was so close to being in full swing. Acts still needed to be confirmed. The venue had been decided upon but they had to make sure there was enough seating and everything. So really, going out was just an inconvenience but she was Glenda and she had to make an appearance.

So she had gotten dressed up and had bustled around her apartment for a little bit. She'd had a sandwich because no doubt the venue was going to have shitty food as per usual or some weird-ass wizarding thing she'd never acquired the taste for (especially the floral ice creams. Fucking weird). Eventually, though, there was only so long she could linger before actually had to leave. One long look at her flat and the desperate desire to just crash on the couch and she slipped out of her door...

... and on to a very familiar stone staircase. She hadn't touched anything so there couldn't be a portkey involved and you couldn't Dis/Apparate in and out of Hogwarts. Everyone knew that. Besides, she hadn't felt that pull. So it was probably the loudest, "What the everloving motherfucking Hell?" that Hogwarts had ever heard (at least to her knowledge) that echoed off the stone. Maybe she'd had some bad ham. Maybe it was a hallucination. Could ham do that? She was starting down the stairs, the sound of her heels echoing off the walls.

After sitting with Hermione and Ron, going through everything multiple times, he decided to give them time alone. They needed to talk about personal stuff without his input and he might as well see if Draco was still up. Maybe, or maybe not. It wasn't like there was much doing here. He should be the one sleeping after getting up in the middle of the night, but he couldn't, not right now, not knowing that Hermione was back.

He made his way to Draco's room when he heard the screaming. "Hello," he said looking up at the grand staircase. "There's no need to scream. No one can hear you with the stone walls. It's much simpler to ask a house-elf or a portrait," he said amused.

"I'm Harry. Who would you be?" he asked.

"I'm not screaming - I'm shouting! There's a bloody difference," she corrected this 'Harry' firmly. Such a common name that she didn't think anything of it, honestly. Her steps were cautious on the stone, keeping a hand on the center railing just in case. He looked real enough, whoever he was.

"Glenda Chittock," she went from Bristol to her radio voice, knowing people recognized that more, "I don't know what's going on but I truly don't appreciate whatever this silly prank is." Or kidnapping. Or... bad ham. Whatever it was. She was pissed off and if this scruffy... child (alright, he was clearly grown but that was beside the point) didn't have any answers... Well, she didn't know what she was going to do just yet. Punch someone probably.

"I'm pretty sure there isn't when you're dealing with stone walls," he said as he climbed the stairs. It would take her a while to come down with those heels and that dress.

"Hello Glenda, it's nice to meet you," he said. "Unfortunately, it's not a prank. The year is 2038 and you just moved through time. You aren't the only one. We've been arriving here for the past few weeks, a month really," he said thinking back at the start.

"Maybe we can go sit somewhere and I can answer your questions." He looked down at her feet. "Those can't possibly be comfortable. Why would you even wear them? You'd be killed if someone went after you." Thank God that Hermione never wore something so uncomfortable.

Alright, she'd give him that argument but she wasn't about to admit it. Her shoulders tensed as he approached. It'd take too damned long to get her wand out of her sleeve at this distance but he didn't seem to have his out either. For now, she was cautious.

Glenda blinked at the year and then rolled her eyes, obviously not believing him, "Yeah sure. I've gone 46 years in the future. Sure." This was stupid. He was stupid. And if he thought she was stupid, then he was going to have to have some sense knocked into him. But now they were just a couple of steps apart and she paused, wanting to keep being at least as tall if not taller than him.

"Unless you're about to chase after me and kill me, I don't reckon I have to worry about that." After all, the war had been over for just over a decade. But she wasn't going to bring that up just yet. "Besides, they're actually not that bad. I've had worse shoes." Glenda crossed her arms in front of her, quietly pushing her wand out of her sleeve by the tip but trying to keep it secretive. "And where should we go to sit, hm?"

"Forty six year so ... 92?" he asked because he had to take the time subtracting ten at a time to make sure that he got it right.

Harry laughed, like it was the funniest thing ever, and in a way i was. Very few people had the courage to go one on one against him. "If I wanted to kill you, I could have done it from the bottom of the stairs, but those look worse than the cruciatus."

He noticed the wand, and didn't mention the fact that he could do it wandless. "I'm an Auror, so I wouldn't suggest you doing what you're thinking of doing. And we can sit in the Great Hall, or stand here if you prefer. It won't change the truth. You jumped through time. Most wizards and witches are dead. In fact, everyone died, until Hogwarts decided to bring people back from he past. I come from 2003, but you might have heard of me." He pulled his bangs away for the second time today. "You might know me. Harry Potter."

She nodded slightly to confirm his maths but that was about it. And Glenda didn't really like the way he laughed but she held firm. "Not necessarily," some of those psychopaths out there liked to play cat and mouse. She'd read enough news stories, spoken them over the air in more censored highlights.

"You can't blame me for wanting to be prepared," she arched an eyebrow as she considered him, deciding not to move just yet. The shoes might have been terrible to run in but she was still very uncertain of him - especially with that ridiculous claim - well, all of those claims were ridiculous. Everyone dead? Hogwarts dragging people through time?

"Harry Potter is twelve years old and I know too many stupid people who got that fucking scar tattooed on their faces," Glenda argued, nose wrinkling slightly at the distaste of that particular statement. "There's no. Fucking. Way. None of it."

"No, trust me, if I wanted to kill you, I wouldn't follow you around," he said, but then shrugged. "No, you can be prepared, but I'm warning you that there will be consequences, because I'm nice, but not nice enough to let someone hex me."

Harry rolled his eyes. "I have no idea who tattoos anything on their faces. I didn't even know wizards got tattoo, and can you please stop cursing. It's a school." Sure, there were no students, but it felt wrong.

"None of the cursing will change the fact that once again, you traveled to the future and there are a grand total of eighteen wizards and witches unless you count the Muggleborn who don't know they have magic because everyone's dead. In fact, my own father is back and he's younger than me. Go figure."

Didn't even--"Really?" she held up her hands, showing him the decorated backs and fingers that trailed up into the sleeves of her dress. "Really?" One hand pointed to her bare thighs that had a few there, the other pointed to her neck where she turned her head just slightly, bat wings just visible. She couldn't help rolling her eyes right back at him.

"The only people that can censor me are my managers at WNN. You're not them," she wrinkled her nose at the idea of anyone trying to tell her how the fuck to talk. That wasn't fucking happening. He kept saying those things over and over but oddly, it was the comment about James that really made her pause.

That was the one thing she didn't think a supposed Harry Potter would make up. The deaths of James and Lily Potter weren't a joke. Although she'd been small when she first met them, she had known them, liked them, and something in her heart crumbled a little. She sat down heavily, the back of her hand pressed to the corner of her mouth to muffle the sharp breaths that came with a small flow of tears. Thank fuck for the charms that kept her make-up from getting messed up.

"What? Really! I've never seen a tattoo on a wizard, unless you count the Dark Mark. After that, I'd think people would stop putting things on their body," he said with a frown. "Also I've been a little busy following Dark wizards so I'm sorry for not being informed about tattoos."

He snorted. "Considering that they are dead and there's no WNN, I think you're out of a job. This on the other hand is still a school, so I'm not sure you want to start a big discussion about who has the right to do what and where." This was giving him a headache. Why did everyone else meet normal people? It was just his luck.

"Okay why are you crying?" he asked confused. "It's fine. We're not really going to kick out of the school for cursing although you should tone it down. We have food, we're rebuilding the school and a ministry. We'll be fine."

Glenda did not have it in her to argue right now. The wizarding world had essentially ended and she was faced with a callous little thing claiming to be Harry Potter who expected her to just accept it and move on. She wanted to punch him in the damned face but she had grown heavy and her emotions were... complicated at the moment, to say the least.

"It's... a mix of sorrow and relief," she wiped at her cheeks, very careful with her nails, "Everything is gone and at the same time, someone I was... fond of is back. I don't reckon he noticed me much - James, that is. I was a little slip of a girl and they were all-important teenagers. But in Gryffindor house, it was near impossible not to like him, his friends, Lily."

The corners of her mouth turned up for a moment but whatever she'd been thinking, she kept to herself. Not everything had to be said aloud even if her career had been built on talking endlessly.

"So you're crying because my father is alive again?" he asked, not sure that he was understanding this. "And everything isn't gone. We're here. The school is here. The Muggleborns are out there. We can rebuild." He hoped that it would help, because he really had no idea how this woman reacted. She reminded him of Lavender and her random outbursts while dating Ron. Thank Merlin she had grown out of that.

"If it makes you happy Sirius is here too and he didn't betray them. Remus is here, Peter too." He sighed. "Really, we'll be fine. We're creating greenhouses, planning for the school. There's no need to cry." Harry was so glad that no one else had cried. It made for much smoother arrivals. "We can find you a room to sleep in for the night. Tomorrow, you can check in with Remus or Regulus about clothing so you can have something less... breath restrictive. Can you actually breathe in that?"

"You don't really understand the scope of what was felt when your parents died, do you? Of course, you wouldn't. You were so little," There had been private moments of mourning and celebrations for the defeat of Voldemort at the same time. It had been so confusing. On the other side, yes they had those little things but her friends and family were all gone, weren't they? She didn't have it in her to argue at the moment as much as she might have wanted to.

But she looked up at the mention of Sirius, narrowing her eyes slightly. So he--what? "Hold on, hold on. Slow down. Are you saying to me that Sirius isn't a murderer? I need that clarified before anything else," she insisted. Clearly, she could breathe because she was doing it just fine and he was being ridiculous. Besides, it wasn't even that bad. It just hadn't been warm enough for anything more revealing.

Harry knew he shouldn't answer. How many times had he been asked about death and celebrations? Now, there was no Ministry spokesman to keep him quiet. "I think that we had two wars. One that led to my parents' death and the deaths of a lot of people. We had a second one in 1998 with fifty-two dead. People at large like to feel grief and sadness when they did nothing to stop the war and don't have the right to feel that grief. It's ours. It belongs to those of us who risked our lives and lost family and friends. So no, I don't understand the scope of the hypocrisy that lived in our society."

He took a deep breath, because this was becoming tedious. "No, Sirius did not betray my parents. I've known that since I was thirteen. Once again, I did a much better job at listening that everyone in our world." He frowned. "Do you even know them? And I don't mean you were in the same dormitory." There were plenty of people in Gryffindor whose names he couldn't remember.

"If someone had asked me to help, I would have without hesitation," but she had been a small ball of chaos and she likely would have just gotten underfoot. She didn't think the answer would be acceptable to Harry who clearly had a very large chip on his shoulder. "And if somehow I end up back home, I will do what I can with the second war. I'm sure I couldn't have sat aside. I'm Muggleborn. I wouldn't." Fucking Hell, she hoped she'd done something.

"I said I was fond - I didn't say I was close. Don't confuse the two," she stood then, careful on her heels. "I'll find my way around on my own, thank you." She was not going to stick around someone who clearly had some kind of issue and couldn't see past the end of his nose.

"That's the problem. People wait to be asked, but they shouldn't, and I'm sorry, this isn't directed at you. You skipped the second war and you were too young for the first. But in general, I'm not too impressed by how random people felt about my parents or me." He sighed. "I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to put you on the spot like that."

Harry nodded. "That's fine. Three rooms are taken in the Gryffindor tower, two in the hufflepuff common room. You can pick any staff's bedroom. Although before you go, I should get you a journal. They are some new invention. You can write and other people can read what you wrote. You can also spell your message to be private to one person or multiple people. It's how we deal with messages. Also meals tend to be communal in the Great Hall. We're also trying to split up jobs and there are plenty of those.

"I was eleven and they were fifteen. I was too small to be bothered with," she shrugged her shoulders slightly. It also explained that her fondness for them had been hero-worship. And that was what she had felt when James and Lily had died, when it had broken apart. What the Hell had happened to her silly childhood heroes?

There was still information to be given and she exhaled softly, taking it all in. "Is there a password for Gryffindor tower or have you lot convinced the Fat Lady to just let people come and go?" Jobs. There were jobs and she glanced at her fresh manicure for a moment... Oh well. Although before she split off on her own, she lowered her voice to a whisper, "Gilderoy Lockhart hasn't shown up has he?"

Harry decided to let it go, because there was no point in saying that he was going after Voldemort at eleven. That school kids had fought at the Battle of Hogwarts. That when they had died she would have been sixteen and perfectly able to fight if she wanted. He knew most people didn't think like that.

"I... have no idea. My dad, Sirius and Remus are there. I'm sure the Fat Lady will let you know. I'm staying downstairs in Finch's rooms. That's where I was coming from." The question was so out there that he started laughing again. "Merlin no and if the castle really is bringing back people it liked, I don't think we need to worry about that." A nagging voice said that people who made an impression wasn't the same as liking, but right now, he'd take it. "We have a list. Savannah has been compiling birthdays. You can see ask her to send you a copy so you know everyone's name."

Of course, those boys would have taken up the tower. It was going to be interesting but she'd make it work. But she wanted to distract him altogether with her question. Change the topic to something lighter.

"If he does show up, I'm going to strangle him with my bare fucking hands - and don't try to stop me," she told Harry, a smile on her face but seriousness in her voice, "He was in my year and he really should've been in Slytherin." Now she was starting up the stairs which was easier than going down. Less chance of slipping and falling to her death.

"While I can't condone murder, if you don't tell me and it's done outside of Hogwarts... I guess it would be a Muggle jurisdiction." He smiled. "If it helps, we have plenty of Slytherins here that we respect. Lockhart, I don't respect."

He let her go. "Have a good night." And now he could go look for Draco, or maybe just go back to his room and pass out.
