Ron had been feeling a little frustrated after the Diagon-and-Knockturn trip had turned up a big load of nothing. Sure, they had all the gold they'd need, and access to the Ministry vault, but there had been very little else to bring back. It was disheartening, but at least they were back at the castle now and he and Harry were settled in for what would hopefully turn into a good drinking session.
Then there was a knock at the door and his arms were full of Hermione who was kissing him! His arms went around her and he kissed back, an action as natural as breathing even after all the time they'd been broken up. It was a quick kiss, but one that left him smiling even after she launched with her typical Hermione-ness into questions.
"Harry and I are from 2003, a few months apart," Ron said, deciding to throw that out there even before Hermione could answer Harry's questions. "And it's so good to see you, you don't even know." Everything was going to be okay now, because Hermione was here. They were together again, the three of them, and they could definitely face whatever came next.
