"Far from me defending them in any way, I don't think any of us had the time to change," Regulus said in a quieter tone. "Potter died. Sirius was stuck in Azkaban. Pettigrew apparently was a rat. Remus was hiding. I was dead. When you had the best life, then you know how bad things were."
Regulus grinned. "I heard. Narcissa always knew what was important and how to get it. Mother always thought that she had married down, no matter the name." He sighed. "Too bad that this Lucius hadn't gone to Azkaban yet. He hasn't learned humility, although watching people ignore him, should do the trick."
He decided to drop the subject of Potter. Severus' assessment would do for now. "You know we'll have to start a much different life in a world that's very different than what we knew. I'm glad you're here. It's nice to talk to someone who understands what happened."
