Re: Remus/Sirius
"You'd be bored and have a much longer detention record if I wasn't this smart," Remus teased.
The apology was unexpected, not least because the Sirius in his lap hadn't done any of the things that had caused the anger and hurt Remus had carried with him into the last couple years. And, yet, it was also an unexpected balm to a bruised heart that had never wanted anything more than these few friends to love like family when his own was lost. Squeezing Sirius tightly, he nodded, not wanting his friend to worry about the short silence that followed that apology while Remus took a moment to process his own emotions.
"You don't owe me an apology, but thank you." He pulled back a little, trying to get Sirius to look up at him. "Werewolves. I was spending more time with the werewolves and couldn't tell any of you why, couldn't explain I was running a secret mission for Dumbledore, trying to get close to the packs so I could convince them to leave Greyback," he explained. "It's why I sold the farmhouse what would have been only a few weeks ago to you. The closer I got to them, the less I saw of any of you, we stopped spending the Full together. You were trying to protect James and his family. I couldn't tell you what I was doing. And, like I said, I always knew James came ahead of me in your heart. So, I understand why your future self did what he did. But, it wasn't you and I'm sorry for not explaining better why I needed to keep those secrets."
