Re: Remus/Sirius
"How do you get off being so fucking smart," Sirius mumbled, face muffled by Remus' robes.
"Moony? I'm sorry I hurt you. I know it wasn't me, but it was still me, and I'm more sorry than you'll ever know. I'm sorry for not trusting you, I'm sorry for leaving you alone. I'm sorry that some future version of me got so caught up in fear and, and whatever it was that I let it get between us."
The truth was that he could understand why it happened. He didn't want to, but he could. Because the things he would do for James... There wasn't anything in this universe he wouldn't do for James. To keep James safe. They hadn't told Remus about the secret keeper change. And maybe future Sirius didn't fully distrust Remus, maybe he just knew it was someone and James' safety couldn't be entrusted to anyone. Except Peter. Because Sirius had never thought Peter was capable of betrayal. Hadn't even considered that anyone would notice him long enough... He was going to have to unpack that. It was not something he should ever think about his friends.
