That was certainly fair but she expected his sharp questions would be a lot less interesting had he a bit of the drink in him. So she chose to ignore that particular comment as she hung the kettle over the fireplace to begin the heating. She settled in a chair and waited for him to run through the questions he might have that would open the floor to further details.
