Severus arched an eyebrow at the question. "That depends on the definition of impression. On the castle? On the wizarding world? Certainly a number of the people currently here had some sort of significance in relation to the Order or the Death Eaters but was that why they - we - were brought here? Certainly Kirley Duke and Savannah Monroe had little to do with the troubles that bind most of us but they are both of some significance in their own right and neither were dead when they were brought here."
He tapped his fingers on the table. "The castle has been... unwilling or possibly unable to explain its choices. It is easy to anthropomorphise it but it is essentially a magical monolith rather than a person. It does not think like us or react to events like us. It doesn't possess the same immediacy that we do. It will outlive us. It will see our children and our children's children and beyond."
He met Albus' eyes, something he usually chose not to do. Albus had more principles in the usage of Legilimency than the Dark Lord did but that didn't mean Severus liked having either man meddling in his mind. "That the castle made this move, that it brought us here, makes me think that its situation was more dire than we know."
