That was actually an interesting question and Albus was probably right. More than a few people in this castle likely had abandonment issues. It wasn't one that was on his particular laundry list of issues or if it was, it wasn't at a level where he was consciously aware of it.
"I don't believe it is being malicious," he said, leaning back slightly and reaching out to the castle. He kept most of his attention on Albus but allowed the castle to be more noticeable in the back of his mind. "Are its intentions entirely innocent? No, probably not. There is an element of desperation and selfishness. As you said, without magic, the castle will eventually 'die', as it were. It may be it has been waiting for Muggleborn witches and wizards to find it and since they have not..." He waved a hand." Here we are. Perhaps there is even kindness in its actions, given that many of those who have been brought here died... unnatural deaths."
He arched an eyebrow. "Though one could also put that down to selfishness as well, I suppose. Under the premise that those of us who have been given a second chance are more likely to do what the castle wants out of gratitude."
