There went any thought of handing the school over to the other man. It looked like the responsibility was his, at least for the moment. Perhaps Minerva might turn up at an appropriate age and he could pawn it all off on her. And smirk at her curses for doing so.
He snorted with amusement at the truth in what he man had said. "Except for the revolving door of Defence Against the Dark Arts teachers, I believe I was the least experienced among the staff at almost twenty years of teaching."
He took the offered seat after a moment's hesitation. This Albus wasn't the one he knew, didn't have the breadth of knowledge that man had, but it was still Albus Dumbledore and maybe there were some answers to be had, even if they were only speculative.
"Us, to put it simply," he said thoughtfully. "The castle's sentience can't really be quantified in human terms but it is there, it is aware and it is... lonely. The Ministry and St Mungos, despite their age, were able to be dismantled as they were no longer needed but that couldn't be done to Hogwarts. So, it was left alone. When I walked in, it clung to me like a lost child." He paused and looked rather wryly amused. "I believe it might have abandonment issues."
