"Actual physical books?" Severus asked with a raised eyebrow. "It's possible, depending on student numbers. Most teachers kept a few copies of their chosen textbook in their office just in case and the library should have multiple copies as well. Otherwise, we might need to see what has survived in Flourish & Blotts." He frowned thoughtfully. "Otherwise, we may have to put together some form of extended notes for them."
He looked over the pile of books with an air of dry amusement. "I will forward copies of the teachers' syllabi to you. The Headmaster gets a copy at the start of the year so they will be up to date to the point where the school closed. That might be an easier place to start than attempting to read the entire library."
He wasn't surprised. Like the man had said, there weren't that many of them and his presence was likely one of the more notable. "I was. Or am. The castle latched onto me the moment I set foot inside, mostly likely because I was still Headmaster when I was brought here." He gave the young man sitting at the table a long look. "You were Headmaster for a long time. The castle hasn't tried to... contact you, for lack of a better word?"
