I wouldn't want to see anybody fighting with live steel! eek! even fake fighting can cause accidents that I wouldn't want to see with live steel!
Swords and other weapons are the subject of most of the 'is that real' questions, which is a pain because you don't know if they are asking if they are surviving artefacts, sharp, replica's of swords but blunted, replicas of blunted swords (ie, did they use blunt swords for tournament, or do you just do that for safty), made out of metal (which is strange when they are looking at them), made up- not based on anything etc.
On the subject of live steel though, my dad was looking at some swords in a shop, chatting to the shopkeeper about the sword he was getting made, and pointed to a sword on display to compare, and noticed the blade was covered in fingerprints. So he said "Don't you hate that! I have so many problems trying to tell people that touching blades are bad because it can corode the metal" and the shopkeeper goes "you think thats bad!" and took my dad to a japanese Katana, which was sheathed in its box with a 'do not tough, blade is razor sharp' sign (he has these round the shop, sometimes saying SOME blades are razor sharp) on the box. He told us that a guy (adult) had come in, taken the sword out, and ran his finger across the blade! he cut it almost to the bone. He told the shopkeeper it should have been locked up, and the shopkeeper asked "Are kitchen knifes in department stored locked up" and when getting an answer to the negative he continues "so, would you run your finger across one of those?". The guy said "no, that would be stupid"
I don't really get asked if I joust, but I have been asked HEAPS if I fight, which anoys me, because much of the time they are asking 'are women in your group allowed to fight', and if I say no then it is offen assumen that I don't fight because I am a woman- or to take it further, I CAN'T fight because I am a woman, and that women in my group are not allowed to fight. I can't say "some women in our group do though', because none of them do. So I have to say "No, but I could as long as I dressed as a man for the fighting" or something like that- which in itself has problems...
