Log: Kai & Kylie
Who: Kai & Kylie
Where: Movie theater!
When: Wednesday night!
What: Transformers!
It might be Hilton Head and it might be the middle of tourist season, but that did not stop everyone from going to the movies Wednesday night for the midnight showing of Transformers. That Kai had to work in the morning did not stop him in the slightest. That was what red bull was for. Standing in line though as he waited for the theater to open the doors was annoying. There were no benches or places for him to sit and his leg was hurting. Not the way he wanted to start the movie, but he did have to laugh at the fact that the bionic man was going to see Transformers. "Any time now..." he muttered to himself in a sing-song voice.
Kylie hadn't been able to talk anyone with her into going to see Transformers at the midnight showing. Yes, she'd have to be up to get ready to go to the Sports Club only 4 hours after she got home after the movie, but the nerd in her was stoked to go see one of the summer's hottest movies and she didn't care. She'd be fine. It wouldn't be the first time she'd stayed out late before work. Since it was the midnight show she'd kept it extremely casual, black sweat pants, a gray tank top, her hair pulled back into a ponytail and her glasses over her eyes. Everyone in line was impatient, anxious to get into the movie, Kylie included, but a remark from a guy nearby made her chuckle. "You're excited too huh?" she grinned at him, rocking back on the heels of her flip flops just a little bit.
"Hey, it's Transformers," Kai defended himself, "How can I NOT be excited? Well, except for GI Joe coming out in August. It's my childhood on the big screen!" he could tell he was several years older than this girl, but that was okay she wasn't a kid or anything. He was clad in long jeans despite the damp, sticky weather, and a t-shirt. He'd considered wearing one with the transformers logo on it and then had decided that he wasn't quite that geeky and had put on a plain black one instead. It was very basic. Sneakers covered his feet. "It's going to be awesome."
She wrinkled her nose a little bit at GI Joe. Yes, her brother had played with the toys, but the movie really just didn't look great to her. Transformers, on the other hand, was a different story. She was stoked. "I'm probably not going to go see GI Joe," she admitted with a shrug "But Transformers, well I'm definitely excited for this one. I've even already started trying to get my nephew into it. I bought him a couple toys the other day. He's only two." She chuckled lightly and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and grinned. She extended her hand to him and introduced herself "I'm Kylie"
"Kai," he took her hand shaking it gently. "I'll see it, even if it's bad. I wanted to be a GI Joe. When I found out it wasn't a real division of the military, I about cried," well, not literally, but he hadn't wanted to join the military after that. Shifting his weight slightly and adjusting the cane he was leaning on, Kai looked around at the other people in line, "It's good to start them young though so they have a good grasp of the classics. I always buy my nephews Transformers and stuff," he had a lot of them too.
She grinned. "Well good for you starting them out young." She smirked nodding her head. Before the conversation could go much further, the doors to the theatre opened. "Oh, sweet!" Kylie exclaimed. "After you," She motioned with a bright smile and waited for Kai to go in before she followed handing the usher her ticket. "You're probably here with some friends or whatever, but I'll catch you after the movie maybe and see what you thought." Kylie grinned lifting her hand to wave to Kai before she walked toward the concession stand to get herself some popcorn.
It wasn't intentional, but Kai ended up in the concession line next to her. "Came alone actually," he replied easily, limping his way towards the counter, "Apparently my friends grew up when I wasn't paying attention. Probably was watching Transformers. Anyways, I recommend the raisinets. Don't get the twizzlers, they'll make you throw up."
She grinned glancing over at him. "Yeah my friends didn't want to come either so I'm here on my own too." At his comment about the Twizzlers she frowned. "Really? I love Twizzlers, but I definitely don't want to have to go in in the middle of the to throw up." Laughing she decided on a pack of sour patch kids and a small diet soda and paid some ridiculous amount for the two treats before she stepped aside, waiting for Kai. Why not make a new friend and catch a movie together? "Want company?" she wondered once he finished. "I totally won't be offended if you don't,"
Laughing, Kai got some Raisinets and a soda then had to fuss for a minute as he tried to figure out how to carry it all before depositing the box of Raisinets in a back pocket and carrying the drink in his free hand. He forgot these things sometimes. "It might've just been me. But the red Twizzlers and Saving Private Ryan did not go well together," he hadn't actually thrown up, but he had thought about it seriously for a minute. "Sure, it's all good. You're not one of those people who talks through the movie though? Right?"
"Ugh no, definitely not. I am not one of those people who talks during the movie. I can't stand that. You should have heard this kid who thought he knew everything about X-men when I came to see Wolverine." She rolled her eyes and took another sip of her soda, walking down the hall toward the movie. It was crowded once they got inside but there were a couple places where there were two empty seats available. "How close do you want to sit? I'm not picky."
Wolverine had NOT been a good movie. He hadn't read the comics in some 15 years probably and was far from an expert, but the movie had just been stupid. Kai had liked how Wolverine had been born in the 1800's in Canada, but the entire Weapon X thing hadn't made any sense. "Um..." he surveyed the theatre, "How about something towards an end? I'm ah...I tend to let the crowd thin at the end before I leave," because trying to shuffle out was just a hassle.
No, it had not been a great movie and Kylie for one was a huge fan of the comics. She hadn't completely hated it though. The other X-Men movies had definitely been better. "Sure that works." She nodded and she found a couple seats a few rows up in the elevated theatre right at the end. She slipped in first and made herself comfortable before Kai joined her. "Hopefully this one is going to be awesome. I'm pretty excited." She smirked, taking another sip of her drink before she set it in the drink holder.
Once Kai was seated he propped the cane against his seat between them. This way he could get up more easily if people needed to pass and they wouldn't trip over it. It would probably end up laying flat on the floor later. "The first one was good, I'm hopeful. And they have the same cast which is a good sign," because when the cast started changing, that was never good.
"Definitely" She agreed about the cast. The previews started soon after that and Kylie mentioned a couple of the ones that looked interesting to Kai and asked for his opinion. And then, the opening scene of the movie began and there were several hoots and hollers from the crowded theatre. Kylie grinned excitedly and popped a piece of candy in her mouth her eyes glued to the screen.
When the lights dimmed, Kai remembered to pull the Raisinets box from his pocket before he sat on them all and melted them with his ass heat. Fiddling with the box for a minute, a task that he was certain was much too loud, Kai popped the first few in his mouth and munched happily. Mmm, raisinets were gooood. Settling in, he was fully prepared to enjoy the movie.
