So this is Kevin Tam. He’s Jared’s big brother, which means he’s also Simon and Jessica’s kid. While he did inherit his mother’s skill with people and warmer sense of humor, he takes more after his dad, with words like “loyal”, “self-sacrificing”, “serious” and “driven” being regularly used to describe him. Where he doesn’t take after either parent is in the booksmarts department. He’s not dumb, he managed to graduate high school with a C+ average and does have a gift for logical thinking, but he’s nowhere near a genius when it comes to academia. What he does excel at is athletics, physicality, and the ability to make quick judgments that, more often than not, end up right. He’s very much a man of action, and generally projects an air of being immune or at least highly resistant to fear. Up until about a year ago, he was a Captain in the United States Marine Corps, and for the past year has been serving as the leader of a secret UN task force that handles the kinds of superhuman threats that the UN deems not ready for public consumption.
There will be an entry in his journal detailing a much more detail-rich history once I get some time to really lay everything out logically, but here’s a quick brief: People in his world are starting to become aware of things like supertech and some superheroes. The supernatural is still hidden from the public, though various governments have become aware of it over the years. (Which is why his truthful report about taking out a vampire coven in Afghanistan got him sent to the UN, rather than a padded room at a hospital somewhere.) Even with the public knowing about things like supertech and superheroes being a more real thing, they still don’t know over half the actual threats pointed at them on any given day, supernatural or otherwise, and the UN would like to keep it that way, so just about all of Kevin’s current work is so classified that it would be easier to break into Area 51 with a toothpick and some gum than it would be to find out details of it. He does get one benefit, though: The UNSC Crusader Hardsuit, which is in no way heavily inspired by Mass Effect or the supertech proliferation in the Ultimates comics. >.>
