The first was used primarily for meetings, be it business or informal visitations for a large crowd. No food was ever served on the table and it was kept immaculate and untouched for most of the time. The furniture within the room was sparse, the walls were kept bone-white, and the table was kept clear of any flowers or trappings. The second dining room was more of a waiting area, fixed with a dozen small tables that could seat no more than three people. It served more as a lobby and was affixed to a large showroom back in the day when the Manor was used by the Malfoys to provide entertainment to their guests by hosting a variety of shows - be they musical or otherwise.
The third dining room was a more stereotypical room, furnished most lavishly with a very long table that was complete with candles and flowers. The furniture was ornate and beautiful. The chairs were carved out of wood with the Malfoy crest against their backs and leather cushions. A large chandelier hung from the ceiling, made out of small diamonds that were enchanted to give off light. Adjoining the dining room was the dancing room. It didn't have a specific name to it that Lucius could recall. It had been designed for hosting the more extravagant parties, back when it was typical for guests to dance and party rather than merely socializing. Nowadays the room was used when the Malfoys needed a larger room for plentiful guests and didn't want any of them ramming into the expensive furniture.
Lucius had given orders to the house elves to make certain that the guests only had access to just a few rooms of the manor. While he trusted the Pureblood crowd far more than he did the mudbloods, he also trusted them to try and find items of blackmail.
As such, they would be relegated to the main entrance, two bathrooms, the parlor, and the third dining room along with the adjoining dancing room. Should any of the guests travel outside the areas, Lucius would be informed either via the manor or through the elves.
The open bar was set up in the dining room. Lucius had entrusted Narcissa to do what she did best and oversee decorations, food, and making certain there would be plenty of room for the others. She seemed in brighter spirits these days, most likely due to the impending pregnancy, though Lucius secretly thought that maybe his choice to run for Minister had something to do with it. His ambition had been something she had always loved about him.
Even if he should lose track of everything else when in the thrall of his next goal.
He was quite glad that the invites hadn't allowed for a plus one. He could handle extra people, certainly, but he had no desire whatsoever to have a bunch of inferior others coming in, and he wasn't certain just whom the Weasleys would have invited as their 'guests'. He could trust Arthur, and perhaps Molly, into not inviting an undesirable. But not their kids.
Never their kids.
Well, all right. Save for one of their kids.
He hoped Weasley would show up early. Granted, Thursday was an odd night to host a fundraiser, but the weekend would be taken over with the Quidditch Charity Game and Lucius knew better than to impede on that. The Parkinsons had already RSVP'd, as had the Carrows. Crabbe and Goyle would be arriving as well. He mentally went down the list while looking over Narcissa's handiwork. Not that he doubted her or found fault in it. Quite the opposite really. Knowing he had her support made him feel far better in this prospect. Theirs was a united front.
