Open! He lives in a town by London, if you're interested.
Who: James Potter
What: James is flying around.
Where: At a nearby park.
When: Sunday Evening
Determined to be the best flier on his team, like his dad had been, James often frequented the neighborhood park to fly. Usually he went to practice his techniques with his father, Harry. But seeing as Mr. Potter was off on business, James took to the skies tonight for relaxation- mainly for a break from his two siblings.
Today had yielded grey skies all day, and this evening was no different. The wind had picked up after dinner, but this didn't scare James. Thankful for the sweater his mum had tossed at him on his way out, the soon-to-be fourth year used the iffy weather to his advantage: It meant the skies were all the more open for him to scour.
Feeling a bit adventurous and daring, James remembered a move his dad had showed him last time, one that was supposed to be effective for throwing off opponents when in the sky. A seeker like his dad, [though James admittedly needed to put in more practice than his father had to] James needed to learn a way to twist and turn, in order to follow the snitch without having the opponent's seeker on his tail. The technique was rather dangerous, since one needs to have full control of one's broom in order to remain safe. Harry had made this quite clear to his son during their last session. But today the skies were clear of other wizards and witches, and his spirits were high, so he decided to try out the nosedive for himself.
Bringing himself to a nice height in the air, James circled around a bit, preparing himself. He weaved in and out of the skies, and then, with a sudden burst of energy, dove towards the ground. The surge of wind flying against his face felt not only incredible, but also terrifying as well. James could feel the speed picking up as his broom rocketed towards the ground, and he knew it was time to bring the broom back to a parallel position. However, his Firebolt wasn't ready to completely level off. While the broom did mostly curve back to normal, it didn't completely return to the sky, and the boy ended up skidding into the ground. The broom slid across ten feet of grass, James's weight falling to his right side. He tumbled off the broom, his right leg crushing into the ground. The Firebolt managed to only wedge itself into the ground, splintering only the outside, but not beyond repair.
Seething with pain, James rolled off his leg, gingerly trying to straighten out his knee. The pain was surging in the lower part of his leg. Unsure of how he was going to get back to his house, more than 5 blocks away, James took a minute to lay on his back in pain.
