Nick nodded in response to her words although the look on his face was dubious at best. When it came to reading, he knew Rose was lucky if she remembered breathing wasn't optional while she immersed herself in the pages. Nick didn't fault her for it, though. He got the same way when he sat on the couch for too long watching Animal Planet or the Discovery Channel on the telly. At least she was doing something a bit less mindless.
He waited while she put down the water, then took her hand and led her to a small pocket in the crowd of people on the dance floor. Nick loved to dance, it was another thing that served to relax him, but he wasn't sure how good of a dancer Rose was. He started slow, simply swaying to the pulsing beat of the music while keeping his eyes on her. "You missed karaoke last night," he noted. "I sang I'm Every Woman for the benefit of these two drag queens in the back. They left a huge tip."
