Benji chuckled at her speculation, scrubbing one hand over his face as if it could rub the slight bit of embarrassment away. "That's not far off," he admitted. "My sister is working on buying some land from a coworker, and I've been living on it with my truck trailer. Not a lot of space but I prefer being outside most of the time anyway. And I've been working on cleaning the land up to get ready for planting season. Thankfully, we've had the coworker's permission while everything is in flux."
Not that he wouldn't have minded doing the work even if Emilia wasn't buying the property and was, instead, just renting. It was giving him something to focus on. "So far, the only thing I've built is a firepit, but I'm sure I'll give myself more projects as we wait to figure out the timeline on tearing down the dilapidated cabin on the property and building something new."
