Sam dropped his hand back to his side, surprised that he hadn't noticed anyone approaching. "Well, damn, where am I supposed to get a goldfish at this time of day?" he mused, an easy, crooked smile gracing his face. He was genuinely happy at the prospect of opening his new store which made it easy to match her dry tone.
He shifted his posture to something more conspiratorial, though that was difficult to achieve with such a tall frame. "Actually, I'm picking up the keys tomorrow." If she were a local, it wouldn't hurt to start making it known that a new shop was opening up.
