The universe had given them this and it was more than Joe could ever have imagined for himself. The last couple of months had entirely changed the way he thought about himself and his future. It would be beyond cruel for this all to be taken away from them so soon. It had been months since Ares had appeared in any of his dreams and he didn’t know whether that was a good sign or a bad one. Perhaps if Ares had lost interest in his punishment there was a chance that he could be persuaded to rescind the curse. Or maybe he was simply biding his time, enjoying this new story arc in the soap opera of this soul’s existence. “We won’t let anyone take it from us.” Not without a fight.
Joe felt that intake of breath, confirming his suspicion that Ram was interested in switching positions, so to speak. He knew that Ram dated women too, so to Joe it didn’t seem to beyond the realm of possibility that Ram would like to be on top. Well, technically he already knew from experience that Ram could be on top in any configuration, the memory turning his cheeks a little pink. “Let’s just say I’m interested in exploring everything that this relationship has to offer.” It had been on his mind for weeks now, his curiosity seeping into fantasies when he was alone. If those explorations uncovered a path that he wasn’t comfortable going down, Joe knew that Ram wouldn’t pressure him to go further in a month of Sundays. “I think it’s something we can build toward.” He had leapt straight in at the deep end their first night together but he knew he would need more preparation to reach that goal.
“With a little doodle,” he repeated, awed by the suggestion, his lips warm from the kiss. “And yes, of course.” The idea of putting his mark on Ram in a permanent way was incredibly hot and he swallowed hard. “God. I’ve never felt like this about anyone.” There was that surge of water in his eyes again. “If Ares ever shows his face, I’m going to be down on my knees begging him.”
