“I’ll come and find somewhere to sit right at the front,” Heather assured her with a grin. She would, too, and she was confident enough in her belief that people would enjoy the song to raise the volume in the bar plenty.
Heather laughed, rolling her eyes. “Yes. Mr. Enigmatic. Mr. Tall-Dark-and-Handsome. Mr. Right.. Someday.” While he was still entirely hypothetical, he was also Mr. Perfect, a status clearly impossible to achieve in a real person. “Or maybe I’ve already met him and I don’t even know it.” Her tone was far from wistful, more amused than anything else. Now that she felt like she was in a position to actually look for something serious, she realized she didn’t know where to look. She probably wasn’t going to find her Mr. Right in a bar doing karaoke.
There was someone on the stage now who looked barely legal to drink which made Heather feel kind of old. She sighed, shaking her head.
“How are you getting on here in town?” she asked. “It looks like you’ve met a few new people?”
