Since Benny had travelled up to Rochester last weekend and broken up with Leo he had indulged in a week of terrible, but tasty, food, poor habits, and only slightly more than the bare minimum of work. He needed to break out of it. The cake, ice cream, doughnuts, take out, and bags of chips were all delicious and also had him feeling sluggish and listless. Although part of that might have been the situation. He had neglected all but the most essential of household tasks too, and the result had been a pigsty that just made him feel worse.
Yesterday he had spent time righting his apartment by washing dishes, doing laundry, cleaning the surfaces and just generally making it feel more normal. Today he needed to start working on his body. He wasn't sure if he needed to get out the anger on a heavy bag, exhaust himself with a load of cardio, or just do a bit of everything and start trying to re-find a routine. He had joined the gym soon after he moved to town, but one thing and another had meant he didn't often manage to make it and it was making those decision harder.
So he had slung on some workout gear and made his way over. In his indecisiveness he couldn't decide where to start and so instead he headed for the mats and just started doing some stretching. He'd been neglecting his workouts enough that he felt it was probably best to start with that and not injure himself more than necessary. As he worked through some half-remembered stretching sequence from several months and a lot of upheaval ago he felt someone come towards him and hover. He wasn't sure whether they wanted the mat or something else. "Feel free to the rest. Just need not to do myself too much damage out there," he said, gesturing to the several mats spread out and the single corner he was using.
