Astrid and Gael (and Open)
Gael wasn't one hundred per cent where that sentence had been going, so he decided to err on the side of not making the joke he could have done, about being able to point out likely candidates but no use to Astrid beyond that. "Not being drunk's working well for me so far," he said instead. He hadn't accidentally flirted with anyone, and that had been the goal, so mission accomplished. And yet, Gael didn't feel ready for the night to end.
Gratefully, he accepted the hug, even if Astrid didn't fully know what it was for. "It will be alright," he agreed. Even as little as four months ago, he wasn't sure he believed that. Now, while it would still take time and effort, he was starting to believe that 'alright' was somewhere in the vicinity of Tarrytown after all.
He wasn't sure if the right thing would just 'pop up', but it didn't seem worth arguing. If it didn't, he knew what he had to do to make the thing he'd wanted happen. "Then I'll call," he promised, without asking what about texts might not work for Astrid. Glancing at the clock on his phone, the corner of his lip twitched. "It's gone midnight, if you want to make that escape."
