Maria & Open
Maria had - she was sure - never felt this feeling before. She had a lump in her throat as she shouted and clapped at a near ferocious volume. She was so proud. Her heart was thumping fiercely in her chest and she felt like - Full Moon coming or not - it might just burst out of her ribcage with the feelings of admiration, love, protectiveness, and excitement that seemed to come with pride. Eric was so very ready for this, she was sure, even if he had his reservations and insecurities. He would be an amazing Pack Leader: reliable, responsible, thoughtful, and so very smart. She had zero reservations about him.
Her own role in all of this, however, still terrified her and she, honestly, didn't really know where she stood in all of this. She knew, maybe some day, she could grow into an Amy-like role... Of her own sort, at least. But she also wasn't sure she should be thinking she might some day be that? It was all.. Up in the air, she supposed. And she was coming to terms with that. She thought. Maybe. Starting to, at least.
While her thoughts on the whole thing were basically a big old mess, her feelings for and about Eric were more solid in this moment, as he hugged Craig, than they ever had been.
As the crowd started to break up and mill about the house - Amy had put out snacks and drinks, of course - she stood in place, reveling in this brand new, heart-filled feeling of pride.
