Title: Reluctance Author/Artist: shiegra Fandom: Digital Devil Saga Pairing: Argilla/Serph Rating: R for mentioned cannibalism, nothing else. Warnings: Cannibalism. Recipient: mitsuhachi A/N: Putting in a bit for an abandoned prompt? It's very short...I'm sorry. I'll try to scramble up something longer. Again, I hope I got the characterization okay.
Heat may storm away at her obstinate refusal, roused to helpless fury, but Serph will not. He is not as easy to dissuade as his volatile comrade, and Argilla's hands fist on her knees, the body of her enemy splayed at her feet like a macabre dish, split open for consumption. Prithvi roils beneath her skin, and she will not look him in the eye.
"Argilla." He says in his even, utterly controlled voice. Polite and immovable. "You must."
He is Serph; she can summon little real anger against him, but the words choke in her throat, no consent easily reachable.
His hands on her wrist, careful cool fingers, overturning her blood covered hand. Her head shoots up and she glares at him helplessly. The cool, blank silver of his eyes are unreadable, but she'd known he wouldn't accept the challenge. She almost says something to him--words of a different sort than anger very nearly tearing free--and instead blurts, "why us, Serph? Why....why is it so necessary?"
He has no answers and he will give her no false, shallow words so instead they wait in silence. His other hand drops and rises, and her mouth twists, stomach clenching in horror or hunger at the handful of meat--human--he comes up with.
"Argilla." He says, slow and patient and quiet, "I won't have you die."
She can say nothing to this, no sharp retort forthcoming. Perhaps this is our answer, she thinks, and holds his eyes as she opens her mouth, blood on her tongue and his fingers against her lips, and swallows her bitter survival down.
