Nathan frowned a little when all eyes were upon him once Peter’s name was mentioned. The people here didn’t know about the familial relationship yet. They had no way of guessing that Peter was his younger brother. While that could’ve worked out for him he wasn’t going to start this out on anymore lies. He was all ready keeping a few secrets from them. His own abilities and Sylar’s free passes were among them. His eyes moved from the two people sitting at the table with him back to the picture of Peter. In his hotel room he still had dozens of photos of his brother ranging from pictures of a wide eyed toddler to an awkward teenager. He didn’t really want to go after Peter but he knew that as long as Peter was out there he’d try and do everything in his power to put an end to this operation.
“Sylar was a very special kind of killer which was why he always eluded the FBI. He had an ability which allowed him to take the abilities of others. I’m still not quite sure how he did it. I know it had something to do with the brain and that was why they were removed.” Other than that he didn’t really know and would never even dream of asking. There were some mysteries of life that should remain mysteries. He wasn’t really interested in opening that chapter of Gabriel’s life again anyway. The man had changed. He was starting over with a new life and had a woman who loved him. There was no need to bring up the past when he was something else.
“And, if you’re wondering, Peter Petrelli is my younger brother. I want the chance to approach him myself and see if he’ll come along quietly before anyone else moves in. If my method doesn’t work… he gets treated just like anyone else. Peter is dangerous. He’ll stop at nothing to bring this operation down. If I fail we’ll organize teams and focus upon Peter and whoever he aligns himself with. But, and I mean this, I want him brought in unharmed. There is not to be a scratch on Peter.” Peter couldn’t do too much on his own and he didn’t seem to like working alone. He’d seek out others to help him. Nathan couldn’t risk Peter organizing anything so the youngest Petrelli would have to be one of the first they captured.
Turning back towards the board he nodded as his eyes moved towards Parkman. “It was the same when I first met him. It’s evolved since then. He had a run in with his father and it just seemed to kick start it.” No one else’s ability had evolved. Nathan didn’t know if that was a good or bad thing. He figured his own could never actually evolve. All he did was fly and there really wasn’t anywhere else he could go with that. “During the time I knew Parkman there were no more Sylar killings. We believe he either died or just… stopped. Until sometime last year when he attacked a teenage girl, my daughter, Claire Bennet.” Opening a file he pulled out Claire’s picture and handed it to Danko and Agent Hanson. “Claire has a healing ability so she recovered. Unlike the people on the board she isn’t dangerous or a threat to society. She’s just a teenage girl and I intend on making sure she stays just that. Take a good long look at her because Claire Bennet is off limits. You can monitor her and her actions but you’re not to touch her under any circumstances.” As far as he was concerned the matter was closed and there would be no more discussion about Claire. He needed her out there and safe if he ever hoped to gain the allegiance of Noah. The more Nathan thought about it the more he realized he needed the older man’s help in all of this. Noah was better prepared.
