Of course Elle had been upset when her father was killed. Everything she'd done since she was a little girl had been an effort to make him proud of her. Make him realize she was the little girl he'd always wanted. The agent he'd always wanted. And while his death might not have been completely unexpected, the man had managed to make an extraordinary number of enemies during his time with the Company, it had still surprised her. She'd mourned for him all she could, though, because his death gave her the one thing she'd never had before. She was finally free. She was finally happy.
Adam still somehow managed to bring out the teenage girl within her though, and she ducked her head, blushing slightly at the compliment. "You're not looking so bad yourself there, Father Time."
Despite herself, she couldn't help but tense up when she heard that name she hated so much. As far as she was concerned, Sylar was the monster she'd helped create, not the man standing with her right now. But then, Elle always had been a bit naive about things like that. She managed a nod, though. "Yeah, it's true. I guess I just assumed you would know, but then, how would you?"
Her hand tightened reflexively over Gabriel's. Bob's death was a touchy subject for him, even moreso than it was with her.
She managed to force her smile onto her face at Gabriel's question. Was there really any easy way to describe the relationship she and Adam and shared. It wasn't exactly normal, but then nothing in the Company had been. "Adam was.....well, Adam was kind of the Company's prisoner. He had to put up with me when I was younger."
