"It isn't." Caroline insisted. She didn't exactly expect him to believe her, though. She hadn't believed him right away about the witches. It all seemed real when it was happening. She had been seconds away from staking herself before Klaus had intervened. And now she had to intervene because she wasn't going to just let him be here indefinitely like this. Who knew when this whole thing would be over. And it could get even worse. She didn't even want to think about that now, though.
"You won't, I promise you won't." She said, and touched his face for a moment. This was just some normal stake, but she knew in Klaus's mind that it was the only weapon that could kill him. And she couldn't convince him otherwise until she removed it. Whoever was behind this was going to pay dearly when Klaus was back to his old self again. Caroline was sure of that. She wasn't used to seeing him this way, this wasn't the Klaus that any of them knew.
She put her hand on the stake, confident that she would not kill him by pulling out. She was very close to him now, and she didn't want him to worry about this. Once the stake was removed, maybe he'd be able to see this situation for what it really was. A lie. It was all one big lie. She moved her lips to his and kissed him, just as she pulled the stake from his chest. She wasn't sure why she'd done that exactly, but if nothing else it would have been a nice distraction for him. And they'd...been growing so close here. But Caroline had even shocked herself by the action.
