The sound of the bathroom door creaking open slowly echoed throughout the apartment; it was enough to make the hair on the back of his neck stand up...there was just something eerie about that noise, wasn't there? A small flood of adrenaline into his motor cortex and Roy could really feel his body starting to come alive. Pulse racing, nerve endings firing in quick succession. He had lost people in his life; too many people...and something happening to Thea, that was one of the only real fears he had left. Needles still freaked him out; always would, but it wasn't the most prevalent thing anymore. Everything that had been going on in this place, it was more than possible that someone had crept into Thea's apartment. If that was the case, they were about to meet her very angry and violent boyfriend. One more breath and his determination started to kick in; he was in fight mode, ready to spring into action at even the slightest hint of anything being wrong. He hadn't always been the best guy; but he'd never been in love before, and that was a pretty powerful thing. He'd risk anything for Thea.
That she was barefoot masked her steps a little better; his heart was like a jack hammer in his chest at that point as he moved forward. Roy hadn't really thought about the possibly that she had been showering; unable to hear his voice over the sound of the running water. One hand had balled into a fist; squeezed so tight that his knuckles had turned a paler shade. Then someone stepped from around the corner and it was enough to stop him in his tracks. Thea. Not a Thea who was in grave peril or imminent harm; one that was wearing nothing but a towel, which clung to her, brunette hair wet and still dripping. Blue-green eyes widened slightly; now his heartbeat had increased again, for entirely different reasons. Just now was he realizing that she had a brush held tightly in one hand; and that she had said his name at all. In what was probably only a few seconds, but felt so much longer, he stared, a wave of relief flooding his system that she was okay, followed by feelings that weren't as wholesome.
Raising one hand, he pulled back the red hood, taking away any doubt as to what his identity was. “Were you...” The corners of his mouth quirked upwards slightly; as concerned as he had been, which was legitimately, he couldn't fight the smirk that had appeared. “Were you about to take me out with a brush?” He wasn't being sarcastic or doubting her; he'd seen just how good of aim Thea had when she had come to his rescue in The Glades. She was a girl that could take care of herself; which was a lot more than he gave her credit for when they first met...he figured she was just a stuck up rich girl that had to rely on everyone else. She'd changed his mind pretty quickly. The attitude; how she didn't give up. How was he supposed to not be interested? “I came here to check on you.” He didn't really feel like he needed an excuse to see her; nor was he giving one. He'd been a little freaked by all the chaos breaking out...she'd be able to see that from a mile away. As much as he always tried to put on a game face and be 'tough', Thea got a lot more of the real him than anyone else.
Now he knew that she was okay; and that made the next thing undeniable, not that he wanted to even try to stop it in the first place. Roy stepped forward, sliding his hand into her still wet hair, and pressed his lips against hers quickly. Passion wasn't something he ever had a problem showing; and his body was kind of in overdrive with all of the adrenaline. What he wanted was to grab the towel with his other hand and pull it away from her body. He fought the urge, at least momentarily, tilting his head back to get a breath. “You okay?”
