What: The traveller's meet... again.
Rating: TBD
Status: Closed/On-going

He'd heard she was here, but The Doctor hadn't really believed it - not really. Of course, they'd seen each other mere months ago, though it seemed so very much longer given all that had happened since the defeat and death of The Master. That didn't mean he hadn't missed her, with every fibre of his being. He'd dreamed of the day when he'd see Rose Tyler again and here it was, at the end of his journey - or at least this journey - and he had absolutely no clue what to say to her!

Even as he watched her enter her flat The Doctor mused on the best way to approach her. "Hey, you're here in hell too, fantastic!" just didn't seem appropriate, let alone the vastly inappropriate "I thought I sent you back home!" which just rubbed salt into an all-too-familiar wound. Rose stepped through the door and was gone. It was as if the paralyses, both of mind and body, broke as he lost sight of her. He couldn't loose her again, he couldn't bare it, and so with absolutely no idea what he would say he made his way across the manically busy road and knocked at the door.

Given that she'd only just gone in waiting, tapping his feet, rolling back on his heels with his hands in his pockets, The Doctor felt like an eternity was passing. Then, suddenly, she was there. "Rose Tyler!" he felt the grin his his lips as soon as he said her name. "So, what's a degenerate like you doing in a hell like this?" The Doctor asked, the grin morphing into a sheepish smirk as he reconsidered his corny greeting. "More to the point," he said, taking a deep breath, "how are you? How have you been? Happy, I hope?" And as much as it was the truth, there was part of him that desperately missed her, and secretly hoped she felt the same.

He wasn't usually terribly sentimental, but seeing Rose standing there agog was rather adorable. Also incredibly sad. It brought back so many wonderful memories of travelling with his favourite companion; the girl who'd become so very much more to him during their time together. "You're catching flies," The Doctor broke the silence more to lighten the mood than to tease Rose, because it was clear that she was going through the same influx of emotion and shock as him.

And it was a shock, though the nicest possible kind, and when she spoke it did strange things to The Doctor's insides. "It's me," he answered as she flung herself towards him, and he caught and hugged her as though his life might depend on it. Who was to say how long this whole 'hell experience' would last for, and one last hug might be all they had. The Doctor held her tight for a long minute before he leaned away enough to look down at Rose. "I'm as real as I ever was, though I'm not entirely sure how long that'll last for," he told her with a self concious shrug. "You... you look lovely, Rose," his smile grew brighter as he took pleasure in her presence. "Well look at us. Together for another adventure," The Doctor teased, "I do hope you're ready. I hear it's one hell of a ride... get it? You never did get my puns," he fell back into their easy banter so quickly it almost felt as if she'd never been taken from him.

Except, deep in his heart, there was the pain of her loss, and of his failure to help her when she'd needed it the most. Well, he promised himself, he wouldn't be letting that happen again! He'd move heaven and Earth to see her safely home, and perhaps he'd turn hell upside down too. The Doctor wasn't sure what he'd do if he failed her again, and didn't want to find out!

It didn't matter one bit that they were supposedly in hell. Not at all. They had been stuck somewhere with the devil before, hadn't they? It didn't matter. What mattered was he was standing right in front of her. She could touch him. And he looked just like he always had. Of course, she'd been looking at that same face every day since he'd left her, but somehow... it was always different. He was never him, identical or not. Nothing beat the original, after all, and Rose couldn't help the overwhelmingly giddy feeling that raced through her, causing her stomach to twist into knots and her heart to beat wildly against her rib cage. She had wanted nothing more than to see him again and now... here he was.

She couldn't help the peal of laughter that slipped out as she embraced him and he embraced her. She had never missed anyone more in her entire life. The grin that hadn't faded since it first broke across her face faltered only a bit when the Doctor said he wasn't sure how long this would last. She hadn't thought of that. "You don't look so bad yourself," she shot back at him and ignored any thought that this could be temporary. It most likely was - all good things ended, didn't they? But she wasn't going to think about that right now.

"I knew it," she pointed out. "I knew we'd be together again." That was a lie, but it didn't matter now. Travelling with the Doctor had been the best days of her life, so of course she was ready for this next adventure that had them here together again. She beamed at him and his little pun, because even if she didn't always keep up with them, they were part of the Doctor and that meant she loved them all the same.

"Oh! Come in, come in!" she stepped away and smacked his arm before gesturing for him to come inside instead of just standing in the doorway. That was rude, wasn't it? She shot him a pointed look, "So what's the plan, eh? What's all this about? You've gotta know something, right? How d'ya think we both got here? Did you-" she couldn't bring herself to finish the question, to ask if maybe he had tried to get back to her. She didn't want to hear that he hadn't, if that was the case. "It's just me. Mum, Dad, the... new Doctor. No one else showed up."
