tom mcnair ([info]tommcnair) wrote in [info]hellascenes,
At Hal's declaration Tom had the manners to look a bit sheepish, "sorry mate. Just got a bit used to thinking I was gonna have to stake you, is all. If you stay clean, then they'll be no need." He found that he was starting to smile, because it really did seem like things were going to be okay, though he wasn't sure they were out of the woods quite yet. When Hal agreed that Alison and Alex might arrive his grin was complete. "You really think they might, do you? Hey, it'd be great, that! All of us together again, and with you and Alex all loved up... you do know you and Alex are loved up, don't you?" he asked, suddenly worried. "You don't even remember Paris, do you? What if Alex doesn't remember it either? Would that mean that you two don't... you know..." Tom returned to looking shifty, and as if he wanted to escape the thoughts going on in his head.

"Well," he studied him carefully. "Now that you mention it, you're looking alright. In control and all that, though I can't say whether it's the change in scenery or the lack of blood." Tom was almost unable to lie, particularly to Hal, who knew him better than anyone, and he figured he might as well set the record straight. "You're doing fine, Hal. Honest you are, but you have to tell me if that changes, alright? That way it won't get to the staking stage, which we agree we both would rather avoid."

He could see he'd given his friend something to think about, though Tom could only hope Hal was right in his assessment. "Well..." he didn't like to think about all the things that had happened in their recent past, it was still raw and painful, but it needed to be said. "...there were a lot of fights, towards the end, but mostly it was the stuff about not trusting Alex enough to tell her you were struggling with the blood stuff. Made her loose her rag a bit," which was putting it mildly. "Then there was you drinking from my girlfriend, though you didn't actually kill her like we all thought it was a pretty nasty thing to do, though we know now that Rook set us all up with that one," which was a shame, because she'd been lovely. Tom had liked her a lot - though not as much as Allison. She was really special.

"Right then. Sounds like a deal. No blood, no hurting people, especially not Alex," Tom put out his hand to Hal to shake on the agreement. "I'm up for some exploring, though I'm not sure I want to see too much of this town. I already had to walk down a street with my eyes mostly closed cause there were so many ladies in almost-no-clothes walking around." Tom gave a frown of concern, "it's not right, that. Girls dressing all skimpy like that. What would their mums think?"
