The picture of him as he framed her, framed again by the ornate mirror and lit with the soft honey yellow of candlelight was quickly becoming one of Judith's favorite sights. Her lips twitched, pulled into one cheek the same time as that brow arched- and not just because of how much she knew he was going to enjoy what she had to tell him.
"While at the bar with Dad, we met a newer guest by the name of Doc Holiday." Given how her father reaction she wouldn't have been surprised to see a glimmer of recognition in Erik's eyes at the name, but she didn't linger. The man's name wasn't the fun part. "He noticed the ring, then went on a happy tangent congratulating Dad on my happiness and his 'new acquisition of great tracts of land'-" She was paraphrasing, but the point was the same. She pulled the last pin from her hair and the rest of it fell in thickly coiled curls that teased his fingers on her abdomen.
"We had a discussion that ended in a Gentleman's Wager."
