"This Mystic Falls sounds like a real great time," Gretel breathed, not bothering to hide the commiserative sarcasm. She wanted to get back to her own world in her own time, but only because she and Hansel had important things to do, not because she had anything sentimental there. Maybe Ben and Edward, but she was sure they were fine, and carrying on the good work. She had to wonder if Enzo wanted to go back to his home, or if he preferred this god forsaken place.
"I mean as functional as you're comfortable being," she clarified calmly, glad he was being so forthcoming. "I've seen about as many different kinds of vampires as I've seen witches, and wolves, and every other manner of creature- they don't always play by the same rules, so it's a bit of a gamble. For example, I'm the only white witch left in my world... but I've met more than a few good witches through my time in the hotel. Their magic is different- their evils are different. Everyone seems to come with their own goddamn set of limitations."
The fact that he had a 'donor' didn't settle the matter for Gretel, and it showed in her face. "One person losing even that amount isn't going to last very long. Not that I think I have to tell you that. And yes, that's the reason you smell blood on me- at least, one reason. He was in a more precarious position than I think you are, and I felt it necessary." She wondered who it was... Maybe this Bonnie person he'd spoken of. Maybe someone else.
