"Pretty similar, I guess. We don't really write down a lot of our stories though. Not in fairytales at least." Though they'd seen a hell of a lot of nightmare fairytales come true. He didn't want to think about that, though. He wanted to focus on the present situation. That was best. Getting away from statues of doom. Right.
"Shit," he muttered, unwilling to turn to look. He couldn't risk the one he could see moving any closer than it already was. "Unfortunately, as our luck would have it, it's around the corner," he muttered, wanting to shake his head but fighting the urge. As for whether they were on the stairs or not, he wasn't certain.
"We're going to have to make a break for it," he told him. "Keep moving around the corner, keeping your eyes on stone cold bitch up there and I'll keep mine on this one. Hopefully we don't have a slew of them waiting for us around the bend. Once we round the corner, we can put them both behind us and haul ass up the stairs. Maybe we'll catch a break and if they try and follow us, we can shove them down the stairs and bust them up." A plan that may or may not work, but it was worth a try at the very least.
