Sam wasn't sure whether to feel relieved and grateful that Gretel and her new friend had shown up and were helping to free him, or whether to feel guilty at getting caught clearly hovering at the door eavesdropping. He didn't know Aidan to know if he might not assume that's what they had been doing, though he suspected he probably did, but he knew for sure that it wouldn't have escaped Gretel's notice.
Not that he had much time to dwell on it though before the other three set about moving the statue. He'd probably have broken his back if he'd tried to help push from the position he was in so instead he was ready for the slightest give between him and the cold stone pressed into his back.
As soon as he felt the slightest inch of movement he started to push towards the gap. The shoulder of his shirt was beneath one of the angels hands and it tore as he pulled himself from it without waiting for them to move it further, figuring the sooner he was out the better. Once he was free enough he dropped to his knees and sort of rolled to the side. Turning to face the others, he noticed several other statues had started to gravitate towards them. "Uh guys, I think a hasty retreat might be in order." He said, careful not to take his eyes off the stony figures.
