Daisy had fought the urge to shift for as long as she could but that itching hum beneath her skin had grown to the point where she hadn't been able to ignore it any longer. She'd told Derek where she was going, just in case she ran into Negan or just vanished, not that he'd have been able to do much if she had have run into trouble but at least if she went missing someone would know where to look or who to ask about her whereabouts.
She hadn't known what to expect but she'd let it happen, let the change wash over her and the moment her wolf was free everything changed. Nothing else seemed to matter, just the moment, the now. Her ears twitched as sounds on the wind reached them, her eyes searched the dimly lit trees for any trace of life and her nose sought out any trace of scent that would alert her to the presence of another. When nothing caused her any concern she set off at a steady pace, paws padding over the forest floor, silent and unseen she passed through the trees.
After a while she started to run, just enjoying the feel of the wind through her fur and the forest around her. It felt right, it felt like coming home and it made her want to throw her head back and howl, she didn't though, she was alone and packless, the wolf part of her knew better than to announce her presence like that when she had no one and nothing to back her up.
She lost track of time as her paws carried her across the ground, occasionally she caught the scent of an animal but she didn't give chase, she'd eaten before she came outside and she didn't feel the need to hunt right then. Eventually she'd looped back to the hotel, slowing she caught a scent that made her pause. Her ears flicked forward and her eyes searched the failing light for the owner of the scent that had reached her nose.
Movement caught her attention and before she even thought about what she was doing she moved from the shadows and into the path of the girl. A low sound rumbled in her chest, not a threat but more a warning, no sudden moves would be tolerated. Daisy perceived this as her territory and while this girl didn't seem like a threat if she challenged it would be met with violence. Her fur was standing on end around her neck, her tail held high in a clear sign of where she saw her position in comparison to the person before her.
She stood her ground and waited for a reaction.
