Ainsley let his friends drag him into some inane conversation about girls, smiling and even laughing a couple of times. He owed it to them, he knew. They were just trying to look out for him, help him have some fun. He was grateful, even if he wasn't a hundred percent sure on their version of a fun place to be. Still. They were trying, and he appreciated it.
Marcus looked first, his eyes focussing over Ainsley's shoulder, and then John. They exchanged a smile with each other and looked pointedly at Ainsley and then up and just behind him again. Ainsley rolled his eyes. So subtle, those two. Still, at least they hadn't said anything out loud. Whoever was behind him probably didn't need to hear just how hot they thought Ainsley would think he or she was.
He took another sip, then casually turned on his stool to rest his elbows on the bar. He glanced sideways as he did, getting a first impression. Male, dark hair, handsome. Definitely worth a second look, so he let himself turn his head and smile a little. They guy hadn't been there before, so he was either deliberately putting himself next to Ainsley, or he just wanted a drink from the hot bartender on the other side of the counter.
"Good luck getting her attention tonight," he offered with a grin. "I think all the blokes in here want to get their alcohol from her."
