It was unusual, he thought, for a young one to defy an alpha. But clearly the young man had displeased his mother. Ainsley wasn't one to look a gift horse in the mouth though. "All right then. Thank you."
He glanced up at the sky, wondering what might happen on the night of the full moon. Would they find him? Sniff out their enemy on the night they had no human control? Or would they ignore him, content to hunt in their primitive form? And what would they hunt? The humans in town, or the animals in the surrounding forests and fields?
Not that it was his concern.
With a final nod to the mother, and a slightly more genuine one to the kid, he took one step back before turning around and making his way back inside.
