He could have just left. The vampire seemed tethered to the job he was doing, and maybe, maybe, he could have gotten out without it coming after him. Even when he wasn't alone anymore, it was her decision for him to keep an eye on the vampire from inside. There was power in numbers, she always said, even if their number was, honestly, pathetic.
He sent her a warning message as soon as he saw the vampire going for the door. It felt like the vampire had kept coming close to him, working up the wolf inside of him each and every time. It rebelled against the proximity especially because there was little it could do. In six days, though, it could do a whole lot more.
Outside, Mallory was waiting. Upon being warned, she had moved towards the specified door and watched. She actually found herself breathing a sigh of relief as she realized the vampire wasn't one of the ones she had feared it was. It didn't make it any less dangerous, however.
She had thought it would just continue back inside, but then the vampire had hesitated at the door, and she was certain that she had been sniffed out - quite literally, in fact. She reached for her phone to send a quick message before stepping out of her hiding place.
Mallory Thomas looked old for her age. There were some wrinkles and worry lines already etched into her skin right alongside the scars. Granted, the vampire could only see the ones on her face, not the ones that had caused the curse. Not that it mattered, as she was certain it knew what she was without them.
