[ HAVISHAM HERALD. ]

I know today is a hard day for everyone right now, so there is no need to reply immediately. Josie has asked me, as someone who knew Nate, to organise a special issue of the Herald to commemorate him. So this is a call for articles for it.

It would make sense to do an In Memoriam feature for Nate, like Josie did for Lucy. But if there are other things anyone wants to write, let me know. I don't expect everyone will want to be interviewed. But some people may want to say something for it. We'll try to include what we can and do right by him.

Fiona, you were interviewing him for the SGA elections. Would you like to rework your notes for something? I think he would like that.

[ ANITA. - LATER ]
You need anything?

I'm sure tagging Nate's post about Starbucks was the first time I've used social media in two weeks. So I'd be the last person to run an anonymous true crime Twitter. But hopefully Nate being a ghost means the BMC will know exactly what happened to him.

We'll see. I don't think I'll need it. I hope the freshmen actually use it. Kavan probably should too.

I didn't know he was into Celine Dion.

I hope he’s one of those ghosts who has a compulsion to haunt the person who harmed him. That’d make it really easy.

I’ll say something to Kavan eventually. But. You know. Men.

I’m not sure he is.

That might be hard if that person never returns to campus. I'm not a ghost expert, but aren't they usually bound to one place? I'm assuming it wasn't someone in the admin or faculty. It's definitely not a student. I don't think any of us have the power to block magic on that level.

I read that with men, you have to make them think it was their own idea.

I'm not really sure how real ghosts work. I just know ordinary ghost stories. But I feel like if it’s Havisham staff, it’s probably someone on Campus PD, tbh. I know saying that probably sounds like an anti-cop conspiracy theorist.

I suck at that.

I wouldn't be shocked if the Campus PD were corrupt and interfered with the search. I suspect it's an alumnus, maybe one in a secret society, if there's connection between Nate's disappearance/death and Lucy's murder. But the BMC better have portal records this time.

I attempt to reason, which I've also been told men prefer. But it rarely seems to work.

Campus PD and alumnus aren’t mutually exclusive. But I’m mostly thinking who’d have had reason to be on campus at night who works here. What makes you think it’s someone in a secret society?

You can’t reason with people being unreasonable.

That's right. I wonder if there's a way to find out who on Campus PD might be a power negator or spellcaster with that knowledge. Re: secret societies, I'm thinking of that @whokilledlucy Tweet about the secret meeting at the Shadow Key. But it could be nothing. Or it has nothing to do with Nate. I wish it was easier to find a starting point on this.

I think Kavan will see reason. But it's harder if you're grieving and in your feels. I hope Shay considers it too.

I forgot about that whole Shadow Key thing. Do we really know the two things are related?

Sometimes people who take on a lot of responsibility have a hard time asking for help.

They might not be. The timing of both the wind and note seemed weird. So I'm running with that theory for now. What do you think of the idea that the note is a fake to distract us from Nate?

If they won't get counseling, I hope they at least get support from friends. But I still think professional counseling would help.

It’s both possible and pretty stupid. But then murdered are usually stupid.

I think they probably will. I hope. This sucks, Caroline!

It seems like too much work when it'd be different BMC teams working on both cases anyway. Whoever killed Lucy got lucky with the portal records being ignored. I'm going to keep thinking about that note and everything else I've compiled. There's not much else I can do right now, and I'm ahead in my studies.

This does suck. I know murder hasn't been confirmed for Nate yet. But I still don't think he just had an accident. If he was killed, I can't believe there have been two murders on campus this semester.

So, regarding the BMC.

If he’d had an accident, we’d have found him straight away, I think. Right? Why else would have all those location spells not worked?

What about them?

I'd think so, unless he did fall into a pocket dimension withing a pocket dimension. I still think at least one person was involved, and he was kidnapped and taken somewhere.

I might have done something about them which might or might not work. But this stays between us.

Is falling into a pocket dimension even like... possible?

Of course. I tread carefully where the police are concerned.

I don't think so, but magic can be unpredictable sometimes. I still think someone was directly involved, even if they may not have killed him themselves.

So, when I went to mass, I ran into John Cook, because apparently he has a tattoo that means he can perform miracles after attending church. So I suggested he make the metaphorically blind men in the BMC see.

I would be surprised if someone weren’t involved! Though I guess falling into a pocket dimension is the likeliest explanation.

You're hoping the BMC will finally get a lead on Lucy or Nate's cases?

I can tell you about something some students found that further proves to me someone was involved. But I think only the SGA and BMC know about it right now, so you can't tell anyone else. I just want to know if it's weird I think it's important.

What is it?

I think it's thoughtful of you to use a potential miracle for that instead of yourself.

There werewolves found a backpack with Nate's scent all over it in a trash can near the library. This was on Friday after we found out he was gone.

I don't see why Nate would trash his own backpack. And most people would turn an unclaimed backpack they found into the lost and found.

What did he do with his backpack when he was a bug?

I don't know. He could shapeshift with his clothes on, but I'm not sure if that would include a backpack. If it were me, I'd leave the backpack somewhere and come back to it later when I'm human again.

If I were the kidnapper or whoever, I'd just take the bag with me too. I wonder if the BMC got another scent off it.
