I hope that this letter finds you well. Life in the mortal realm has not been without its challenges, but it has largely been an enjoyable experience. The opportunity to be with Flynnwood again has been a balm I did not realize I had been in need of. I was so young when he left, I suppose that I had grown so used to his absence that the portion of my soul that was tied to him had grown numb. For all else I have been through since coming here, my soul once again flourishes in a way I had never thought it would again.
I do wonder if you might have any insight into Cavan's arrival here. You had seemed so strictly against travel to the mortal realm until I finally managed to convince you. Does his presence mean you have altogether changed your view? It is beautiful here, in a way that is very different from home. Nothing here is permanent, but many things are enduring, a curious paradox that humans and their relations seem oblivious to.
I think perhaps the time has come for me to have another captain, now that a year has passed since Aidan's death. I trust that you will make a wise appointment, one worthy of succeeding Aidan's strength, compassion, and loyalty.
